PVP vs. Dueling (in a PVP server)
Hey all,
I have an issue with a PVP server, as well as a couple of questions, and was wondering if any of you could offer some insight into the problem.
In "regular" PVP combat, no participants seem to be able to use combat skills (such as bash, kick, monk skills, etc.). The weird thing is that when dueling these issues don't exist, and combatants are able to use the aforementioned skills without any problems whatsoever.
When looking through the changelog.txt, there is a note from 10/27/2004 that reads as follows: Still trying to figure out why the client doesn't send any PVP special combat abilities unless you're dueling.
Does this problem still exist? If it does still exist (regardless of whether it's a client-side or server-side issue), has anyone found a way to resolve it?
Lastly, there are two other questions that I haven't been able to find on the forums:
1) Is it possible to eliminate the PVP damage reduction that appears to be present? In short, I wish to make the damage formulae in PVP equal to the ones in PVE.
2) Is the PVP status window (ctrl+p) currently functioning, along with the old Infamy rules? If not, is it somehow possible to award PVP points from killing another player (with or without factoring in for level differences and other variables for right now), or is it easier to simply define a special PVP reward (such as a coin or ear) that will grant a PVP point when turned into a special merchant?
If you've made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read this! I know that this thread is kinda lengthy and that some of these questions may be stupid or have answers that are self-evident. Nevertheless, despite my "newbness" with the EQEmulator, my small group of friends and I are having a kick-ass time on our little server and wish to add some PVP into the mix if it seems viable.
Thanks again,
Madrigal
