Server working - logged in - char can't move
Hi, Folks,
First, thanks a million to everyone for all the efforts to bring this emulator into the world for us to enjoy! I have tried to set one of these up on three occasions, and failed miserably until this most recent effort.
I am using a Windows box to run the Emu, and I used the guide at:
http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Windows
I've gotten the server up and running, and I've created a character. When I enter the zone, I can see NPCs (with armor and items), watch them cast spells, etc. I can see myself levitating above the ground but cannot move (I can turn around in a circle). I've tried to search the forums for the answer, but the threads bounce around and refer to files that aren't there any more or refer to older sql versions or some other dead end.
Can someone tell me the simple way to get the character unstuck?
Thanks in advance!

Wshew, glad I'm not the only one with this problem.
I'll keep an eye out for answers and I'll share anything I learn with ya. My debug thread: http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=32173

Sweet! Misery loves company!
I've started the SVN transfer of the 3.7 GB of map files from the pre-March2010 guide, just in case I need them, but with all the conflicting guides and instructions, I have a hard time trying to figure out the next step.
At present, I have a working server, character created (sitting in Mines of Gloomindeep), and I can log in and see the zone with all the NPCs (as I said before, with armor, items and casting spells). I saw a rat come near one of the NPCs and watched him kill it, so things appear to be working fairly well.
I think if I can get this problem solved, there may not be much more to do. Hopefully this is a common issue and someone has a simple answer!

I believe it was Trevius who posted solutions to this in other threads. I will look for them and post if I find it. I had the same issue and it ended up being missing SQL commands. I'm still learning all of this, but I believe it's possible when new database revisions come out that some SQL code/commands may be missing. Again, I'll see if I can find it again and post if I do.

Apply the sql updates to your database that come with the emulator code. Assuming you downloaded PEQ 1589 (I think that's the old number. There's a 1667 database available now) you would need to apply any with a number greater than that. They are in the utils/sql/svn directory.
The one in particular that is most likely to fix that one problem is 1618_zone.sql.
If that isn't it, look in the logs that the emulator creates in the logs directory for errors that will give you clues on where to troubleshoot next.

The database I downloaded, as per the web guide, was 1589. I've downloaded the newest version and will apply the updates tonight. Thanks for the tip!

Watch out with those map files, the gukbottom one is broken, or at least it was last time I updated. Was causing guk ti crash a lot.

Get it from the svn repo at:
http://projecteqdb.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/peqdatabase
Read this page as well:
http://www.peqtgc.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7112
Hope this gets you going. be advised that after you install 1667, IF YOUR SOURCE HAS NEWER SQL UPDATES, then you will need to apply those as well...
This means if you pulled source that is after 1667, then you will need to apply that sql. There are two optional sql's in there as well...Check in your source/utils/sql folder to see if you have these sql's..Remember as well, if you pull new source, and PEQ has not updated, you will need to manually apply any possible new sql's..
Good luck, hopefully this will set you on the right path...
