error loading patcher

my first time here - trying to run the patcher, did everything on the website to download EQ correctly i think... changed all the necessary things it said to change, but when i try to run it - screen blinks a few times then gives me an error. Any Advice?

Instruction at 0x1000f0ce referenced memory at 0xfffffffffc.
The memory could not be read.
Click ok to terminate.
