Default fresh server - nektulos forest - black screen

otherwise if i zone from PoK or #zone, i can see the book, but all the monsters fall through the world like there is no ground, and im stuck some place under the world. any thoughts on troubleshooting this zone?

The zone file and version you're using from the database likely don't match. There are about a dozen threads on the forums that'll help you out with that.

using the update script, i selected option 6 for maps, ill see if that helps.

You need to update your client zone file, not the server map.
