Default error 1017 fix (possibly)

I was having this problem while trying to log into my own server
I have two systems behind a linksys cable modem router.
I had port forwarding enabled for ports 9000-9004 and world.exe was showing attempts at a connection but i would get a 1017 message.

Anyway, all i did was update the firmware of the router and that fixed the problem.

Hope this helps others who had this error

Default Not all geeks

Please bear in mind that many people on this board are NOT computer geeks. It would be very helpful to post directions for fixes as well. For instance: Exactly how do you update the firmware for the router? That would be extremely helpful and eliminate a lot of unnecessary posts for more information. Thanks.

Default

sorry

For my router the process was....
Use a web browser and enter the ip of the router (192.168.1.1 often default) and enter admin password.
Then under help there was a link to update firmware and to the website with the downloads.
Take the link, find the router upgrade on the website and download and unzip.
Then select update firmware and browse the hard drive for the downloaded file and hit ok.
Finished
