Server Operator Terms of Service |
|
Nov 06, 2025 - 5:57 PM - by Rogean
|
Hey everyone,
The past few months have been eventful for emulator communities everywhere. Many of you are likely aware of the recent litigation involving the EverQuest Emulator server The Hero’s Journey, which resulted in a preliminary injunction ordering its closure. At the same time, a private World of Warcraft server community also became involved in legal proceedings and referenced the EverQuest Emulator community in its defense.
We’ve been fortunate that EverQuest is owned by a company that has allowed this community to exist and thrive, giving countless people the chance to express their creativity in amazing ways. Historically, most servers have operated under a loose set of unwritten guidelines, based largely on common sense and a shared understanding of what is and isn’t acceptable.
Unfortunately, some projects have chosen to push beyond those boundaries, drawing increased attention to emulator communities as a whole. This has made it more important than ever for companies to take a clear stance regarding the use of their intellectual property.
Most companies respond to situations like this by completely banning or shutting down emulation and modding efforts. Thankfully, Daybreak has taken a different approach. They’ve been open to working with us to establish an official framework that allows this community to continue existing responsibly and respectfully.
Over the past several weeks, I’ve had extensive discussions with Daybreak about a new Server Operator Terms of Service for the EverQuest Emulator community. They have worked with me in good faith, showing flexibility on several points while remaining firm on others.
I expect that some server operators may have concerns or questions about certain sections of the new terms. Please don’t assume that this marks the end of any given server. I strongly encourage any server operator to reach out to me directly on Discord so we can go over any issues together. I’ll do everything I can to ensure each server has an opportunity to be heard and to work through any potential problems with the proper channels.
The new Server Operator Terms of Service can be found Here.
Thank you

EQEmulator has been migrated to a new webserver running updated versions of software. If you can see this post, you are visiting the new server. Issues with emails should now be resolved.
If you had previously registered an account and did not receive an activation email, you can re-request it here: https://www.eqemulator.org/forums/re...o=requestemail

Loginserver Issues Part 2 |
Nov 04, 2021 - 2:08 AM - by Akkadius
|
The EQEmu LS continues to have issues with servers connecting even for those who have registered worldserver accounts.
18 servers are currently connected out of what is usually 150+
This will likely remain this way until Rogean has bandwidth to troubleshoot / address
Solution
Use login.projecteq.net as it is fully stable and will handle logins without issue as instructed in the previous news post http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=43438
There are currently about 60 servers connected and using it without issue. EQEmu accounts will work all the same.

Loginserver Issues |
Oct 29, 2021 - 10:50 PM - by Akkadius
|
For about the entire day now we've had issues with the Loginserver. Someone has been packet flooding with what seems to be registration requests and since the old loginserver is ancient and brittle and not sure we have the source code for anymore - making source changes to mitigate overflows and clean things up is not a fast solution.
Titanium has mostly worked, just displays a ton of garbage characters in the server list. Titanium users do not need to take any additional action.
Titanium and above (RoF) works however it displays an empty server list which leaves folks unable to login at all.
Rogean has bounced the Loginserver earlier and the day and it has continued to has issues. I've informed him of the continued issues but have not heard back since the second wave of issues.
To restore functionality to servers that use RoF clients predominately - you can use login.projecteq.net modern Loginserver as a working proxy with your EQEmulator account without issues until the current legacy one can be stabilized. This means that the server that you play on will also need to list themselves on the other loginserver as follows
Code:
"loginserver1": {
"account": "",
"password": "",
"legacy": "1",
"host": "login.eqemulator.net",
"port": "5998"
},
"loginserver2": {
"port": "5998",
"account": "",
"password": "",
"host": "login.projecteq.net"
},
Client changes would be as follows (eqhost.txt file)
Code:
[LoginServer]
#Host=login.eqemulator.net:5999
Host=login.projecteq.net:5999
This is a for now solution. Servers listing on the login.projecteq.net Loginserver will show as unregistered standard servers but it will be completely functional.
Several servers are working through the secondary currently.
Thanks everyone and apologies for the headache. Try to enjoy your Halloween weekend!

Server Status Changes |
Aug 10, 2021 - 3:52 PM - by Turmoiltoad
|
After another round of evaluations, based heavily on community feedback, I'm pleased to announce the following server status changes:
Legends:
The Imperium server has been run and developed by Sturm and his wife for over six years, with no end to their customized content in sight.
Imperium is family friendly server, with a vibrant and helpful community. Geared towards players who just want to relive the nostalgic days casually in the old world while playing solo, or for the die-hards that want to experience the endgame that has been designed to be a challenge for their equipment, and encourages grouping up and raiding.
If you're feeling extra brave, check out the Hardcore Mode, and see just how far you can make it on only one life!
Preferred:
Reign of Thule (RoT) hosts a teams PvP server with constant bug fixes and a professional-level hosting quality. RoT hopes to continue to have a healthy and competitive PVP atmosphere, while promoting an engaging Everquest environment where no one can truly be certain of what is behind the next corner. Come check out the classic progression and choose your favorite alignment.
IxiQuest focuses on community, sharing and collaboration, targeting casual players, and attempts to discourage time consuming or otherwise un-fun attributes of the original game. IxiQuest boasts a large degree of custom content and is worth checking out.
Dreadbox is a custom server with a helpful community with an achievable solo-progression that is just plain fun. No roadblocks will get in the way of your enjoyment, and players really appreciate the dedication of the GM and the attention to player feedback. If you'd like to try a solo server that has been tuned for actual solo play, give Dreadbox a try.

Server Status Update |
May 30, 2021 - 8:51 PM - by Turmoiltoad
|
Project Lazarus is moving to Legends status. Please congratulate Dhaymion for his hard work and commitment to building a community and a custom world that everyone can enjoy. Great work Dhaymion!
EQTitan and The Firiona Vie Project and Clumsy's World have moved to Preferred status. These servers are worth checking out.
Other worlds to keep an eye on are Classless, which recently changed hands and has started fresh on the Standard list, and IxiQuest--they have been growing fast, so try them out!

EQEmu Changelog Gets a Facelift! |
Sep 15, 2019 - 1:13 AM - by Akkadius
|
Since 2003 (17 years!), we've used the legendary changelog.txt in our source repository to record our server code changes. This has worked great but today we are going to be using GitBook for all of our server changes from here on out!
This will allow us to be able to create expressive changelog notes, with visuals, rich code examples which should be far easier to navigate and consume

Server Rank Changes |
Sep 15, 2019 - 12:53 AM - by Akkadius
|
Most of our updates have been in Discord in recent time but we will be making a better effort to at least reciprocate to the forums for the time being
+ Preferred
General unofficial criteria for being preferred is having 20-30+ players on daily, good standing in the community, up for 3-6+ months stable
- EQ Classless
- Project Lazaurus
- Preferred
We are considering removing dead preferred servers from the list. This is a harder one because these servers got to preferred for a reason and don't deserve to be unfounded on the standard server list, but would be better to have on some sort of standard list. If the community has input on what we should do on these servers please voice your opinions in thread *constructively*
