Yes, I have a router, and it connects to my DSL modem. Yes to Firewall. Now for the good part :)

I'm not running a server. I'm attempting to connect to a .70 server with a clean Titanium install. Im trying the public login. I'm totall thrown by the reference to the eqemu_config.xml file....

I installed Titanium, did NOT patch. I modified EQhost per player instructions. I created a login account. I read everthing I could find on logging in for the first time.
